Brad graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a BBA-Accounting and was employed by Fort Worth National Bank during college. Brad is a CPA. Upon graduation Brad joined a national accounting firm, Deloitte, Haskins and Sells.
Brad then joined First State Bank Abilene in 1978 and later became President of the bank and its publicly traded holding company, Independent Bankshares. He was involved in the acquisition of eight banks.
Brad then joined Pride Refining, Inc. in 1988 and was involved as CFO in taking Pride public in 1990. Brad became CEO in 1993. At Pride, Brad was also involved in making several acquisitions, including the Texas Plains Pipeline System from publicly traded Diamond Shamrock in 1994. Brad led an offering to take Pride private in 2003. The company was later successfully sold to four public companies, Sunoco, Alon, Delek and Magellan Midstream Partners, with the last sale occurring in 2006.
